What’s Your Passion?
What drives you to wake up each day? Is it a love for teaching, a faithful pet, or playing catch with your kid? Maybe it’s a new tune buzzing around in your head.
The question, “what’s your passion,” often makes people stop and wonder what it is, exactly, that makes you… well, you.
At Foreverence, we have the privilege of getting to know so many different people and their loved ones. In fact, we spend hours talking with individuals—getting to learn more about their dreams, favorite pastimes, and cherished memories through the stories they tell us.
And as professionals in the design of custom cremation urns, it’s our responsibility to capture these stories to help tell that legacy, so it’s both shared and remembered for years to come.
How do we do this?
It all begins with our three-part process for designing custom cremation urns. And it just so happens that step one is “imagine.”
We ask our clients to think about what they—or a loved one—are passionate about. This may be a personal item or work of art. It may also be a special hobby or a talent they use to pursue their passion.
Once our clients share with us their stories, images, and ideas, our design team listens closely. They then take each element to craft and bring that vision to three-dimensional life.
But before we get to that step, we first need to cover this essential ask: what’s your passion?
Explore Your Passion with 3 Simple Questions
If you’re considering a custom creation urn for yourself or a loved one, you might be struggling with the idea of how you want to be remembered by friends and family.
To help you prepare for step one of our process, we’ve listed three questions that may help spark conversation and get you focused on how you wish to leave your legacy.
1.) What’s Something You’d Do for Free?
Think about something you enjoy doing that doesn’t feel like work. In fact, if someone asked you to do it for free, you would.
This could be teaching students how to play the guitar, traveling abroad to explore historical landmarks, restoring an old Ford Thunderbird, or baking a wedding cake for a close friend or relative.
When we’re passionate about something, we do it because we want to. This could be a hobby, skill, or talent—hey, maybe it’s even the 9-5 job you do each day. Think of something you’re willing to suffer through in order to see that it’s done to the best of your ability. In fact, did you know that the word “passion” actually derives from the Latin word pati, which means to endure or to suffer?
When something is worth the time and effort it takes to complete it, that right there is a passion.
2.) When Does Time Fly By?
They say time flies by when you’re having fun. This is especially true if you’re doing something you love. From the moment it begins to the time it ends, you are filled with such excitement and purpose. So much so that you don’t even realize the time ticking by. In fact, you’re probably counting down the time in-between when you’ll get to explore your passion once more!
3.) Would You Sacrifice Other Things for It?
If waking up at 5 a.m. each day to run against the freezing morning windchill meant preparing you to run in your next marathon, would you sacrifice sleep and the warmth of your bed?
If making dinner every day for the next 365 days meant you and your spouse could take that trip to Paris, would you do it?
If missing your favorite football team play on Sunday meant singing in the church choir or helping mom prepare her famous Italian dish for dinner, would you do it?
When you are passionate about something, you make time for it. Think about what you are willing to give up and what you’re not willing to give up when you start exploring what your passion might be.
Celebrate Your Passion with Foreverence
We hope these questions help you with discovering your passion. Remember, you can also relate these same questions to a loved one who may have recently passed. This will help you imagine the type of legacy they may have wanted to leave to others.
